OCTOBER 2025
champions Place@Home is growing THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS!
Through the power of partnership, we’ve expanded our reach, completing 47 Champions Place@Home installations in the Atlanta area and enabling physically challenged young adults to live more independently than ever before. And through your support, we are planning on 24 more installations over the next 12 months.
Here are 3 examples where partnership connections have opened doors to our reaching young adults who are now benefiting from life-changing technology that promotes independence, safety, and confidence:
The Shepherd Center, a top-ranked rehabilitation hospital for spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other complex neurological conditions, introduced us to several Champions Place@Home recipients, including Carria Williams. After life-saving medication preserved her heart but resulted in the loss of her limbs, Carria has faced her new reality with remarkable strength. Champions Place@Home helped make her home more accessible, empowering her to live independently.
“The Champions Place@Home program allows me to control my fans and lights around the house just by speaking through an app. Having both upper and lower extremity loss, this is truly amazing support. You have no idea how much this technology is going to change things for me. Now I can use my voice to activate all these different tools - and I’m loving it.” — Carria Williams
Sunshine On a Ranney Day (SOARD) is a nonprofit dedicated to creating life-changing home makeovers for children with special needs and serious illnesses. Through our partnership with SOARD, we were introduced to more than 15 eligible Champions Place@Home candidates and had the opportunity to build on the work SOARD had already done, making homes even more accessible and special for each recipient. One of the candidates,
Matthew, shared how much the improvements have meant to him.
“Champions Place@Home has helped me become way more independent and not feel so helpless all the time. Thanks to my new automated fan, I can finally sleep comfortably without needing my parents’ help. And I love being able to turn my lights on or off whenever I want instead of just sitting in the dark. Champions Place@Home has made a huge difference in helping me feel more independent.”
— Matthew Williams
The purpose of The Kyle Pease Foundation (KPF) is to raise awareness and funds to help people with disabilities achieve success by supporting their individual needs through sports and beyond. Through our partnership with KPF, we were introduced to Natalie Gomez, a KPF employee and participant, who shared her experience and the impact these opportunities have had on her life.
“Champions Place@Home has increased my independence and simplified my everyday tasks, so now I can do more things on my own without having to ask for help, and it gives me the freedom to stay home alone. I am so happy and grateful. I love you guys and will always be grateful for all the things you guys have done for me.” — Natalie Gomez
We celebrate these successes and look forward to what’s ahead. None of this would be possible without our partners, our supporters, and the amazing young adults we serve. Here’s to continuing to grow together!
