Serving with Purpose: CHAMPIONS PLACE Residents Give Back to Their Community

We often learn how to care for others by first being cared for ourselves, a truth our Champions Place residents exemplify so well. While they are often on the receiving end of compassion, encouragement, and support from our Champions Community Foundation family, December brought a special opportunity to flip the script. For a moment, the residents were able to step into the role of givers, serving their community in an impactful way through a service project.

This project was organized by a Sunday school class at Mount Pisgah UMC, who regularly volunteer with our residents by doing things like hosting dinners and spending time with them. Through connections with a local prison ministry, the class created an opportunity for our residents to give back by assembling bags filled with toiletries and other essentials for individuals currently incarcerated at the Atlanta Transitional Center.

Many of our residents had never had the chance to directly impact lives beyond our immediate community. The project came together in recognition of the need for a meaningful way for residents to serve during the holiday season. The response from the residents was heartwarming. Champions Place resident Ashley shared, “I would LOVE to do this again,” capturing the joy and fulfillment the experience brought.

This project not only allowed residents to give back but also strengthened the bonds between our Champions Community Foundation family and the larger community. We are grateful to our CCF family for creating this opportunity and for showing our residents and all of us what it truly means to love and serve your neighbor.
