champions place news

may 2021

April 28, 2021 marked six months from our official “Move In” day here at Champions Place. So how’s it going?

We’ll let Corey and his team tell you all about it.

One week late in February, our staff received the following email from a resident parent, Melanie Phillips.

“Tuesday night I took Corey out to dinner. Usually he just sits quietly.... not much to say if anything at all.... but Tuesday was different! From the moment he got in the van until I took him back to Champions he talked of work, paying bills, budgeting, roommate gossip, activities, future plans.... it was amazing! I always thought he was just withdrawn... but that wasn’t it.... he just needed to live like a normal adult!”

Corey’s team caregiver Teri echoed that sentiment

When I first met Corey, he was a little bit quiet. He is soft spoken & loud at the same time because he speaks his mind. We have had some GREAT Life conversions about; his independence, his business, his relationships with his family, friends & girlfriend.”

And with that we knew – the Champions Community Foundation is on the right path to living our vision to “significantly improve the lives of young adults with physical disabilities enabling them to reach their full potential as self-reliant, productive, and fulfilled citizens in their local community.”

Thank you for your continued support to help us sustain and expand the services we are able to provide for our greater Champions and Titans communities. Your generosity is changing lives. Don’t take our word for it – hear it from Corey who doesn’t seem to be sitting quietly anymore!
