champions place news

March 2023

Fourteen years ago…

A group of physically challenged young adults and their parents created a community for them to enjoy wheelchair sports and social gatherings…a place to encourage and support one another…a place to avoid isolation and grow friendships.

The vision of those 7 young adults became the Titan Community which, to date, has served over 130 young adults and their families. We are delighted to share one of those stories.

We hope you will be as encouraged by Trey’s story as we were. Trey, we are incredibly proud of all you have accomplished and even prouder to call you a Titan!

A letter from Trey

To all titans

I cannot thank you all enough for the support you have given me all these years, I have been with you since I was seven years old. You all taught me how to be a team player, and to be tough when the going got rough .. especially on the ball field when chairs collided! You all never gave up on me, nor I with you! You all taught me how to be a great sportsmen and team player and to have patience in making plays happen. I was so happy when we won that state football championship so many years ago. I was in heaven … being on our Mustang and Titans team!

You were all there for me when I lost my mom, and I never thought back then, that I would achieve the goals that I have accomplished so far especially without her, and I thank you all for being there for Dad, Caitlin and me! It was all of you from teammates to coaches and of course our parents who were always there to make are lives the best, considering all our differences and individual disabilities. We all made it work!

I am very fortunate this year, my fourth year at Tech in Grad School, and now Independently able to go forward…I am able to give back to supporting our great Champions program. Though this check is small, it is hopefully the first as this was my first year of a paid internship and a new beginning of CP research using advanced technology development with hopefully successful years ahead. Especially with the recent great news I just received on receiving a grant. I intend to go forward researching this new advanced technology and hopefully discover new medical uses in the fields of biomedical technology to better our lives and to better those disabled children, yet to be born.

Thanks to our Lord and Savior, we are a powerful force together and can accomplish anything with our team determination. My recent published success is also your success, for without your years of love and support, I would not have been able to give back to our great Titan family, and Champions place!

God Bless you all,

Trey Quinn
