Construction of Champions Place is underway with an anticipated grand opening of March, 2020
Rain has continued to slow progress on Champions Place — construction during Atlanta’s raining season is always a risk. According to our builder, once we hit mid-April, the rain should subside and construction will pick up pace.
Now you see it -- now you don't! Last month we featured the installation of the underground storm system, sanitary and sewer lines, and domestic water and fire lines. The last of that is being completed and will be covered up as grading is completed and preparations are made for piles, footing, and foundation/retaining walls. If only the weather would cooperate!
Construction of Champions Place is progressing as planned, now that the weather has dried up! Grading has been completed and storm lines, sanitary and sewer lines, and domestic water and fire lines are nearly completed. What you see in these pictures is the new underground storm system that eliminates the need for an ugly retention pond. Piles, footing, and foundation/retaining walls come next!
The National Weather Service has declared 2018 the second wettest year on record for Atlanta with 70.03" of rainfall, way above the typical 50" per year we usually get. Unfortunately, that rain has slowed the Champions Place land development a bit - but our amazing construction team is trudging along.
There has been a lot of tree removal, grading, and preparation for the water and sewer lines… and sometimes you run into the unexpected, like some buried debris!
2018 has been a momentous year for Champions Community Foundation! Construction of Champions Place has begun with an anticipated grand opening of Fall, 2019!
